Pride and Prejudice is a novel in 61 chapters that tell a single

story from beginning to end and are meant to be read in order.

The chapters carry no titles, only a number that never starts

over, so a chapter number is all you need to find your place again.

The story is told by a narrator who is not one of the characters

and who stays with Elizabeth Bennet more than with anyone

else: she appears in every chapter. Part of what happens reaches

you through letters, which are reproduced inside the chapters,

set between quotation marks like the dialogue around them. The

longest letter fills most of Chapter 35.
